Because of the bullshit that Baldwin´s character tells in this scene you americans have this crisis right now. And it´s not only america, it´s getting worse worldwide because people just can´t get enough and salesmen sell bad products to people who just don´t need them or can´t even afford them.
I work as a salesman in a bank and we are going down because we have to sell bad products whatever the cost like Baldwin says in this scene. Customers become more and more angry and they leave.
