"The Dark Knight"was the 2nd right next to Titanic TDK ALMOST beat TITANIC but it didn't it was very very CLOSE! but it didn't Titanic was a good movie made me cry and TDK oh man! did it make me speechles and it was AWESOME :)

All those box office records are quite ridiculous. Due to dollar inflation titanic 'score would be around 900M dollars . So the Darknight Score (amazing anyway) cannot be compared to the succes of a 10 years old movie

i think the dark knight audience is basically adult males whereas titanic audience is of every kind from kids to old everyone i think that was the main reason for titanic's huge numbers and don't forget the huge impact of crazy teen girls but dark knight is possibly the greatest movie ever whereas titanic is no more than a shit as compared to the great dark knight

Hmm, I think TDK appealed to a much wider audience than you think. I went with a whole familiy that included a young adult male (me), an older adult male (father), an older adult female (stepmom), three teenage boys and three teenage girls (siblings and cousins), and two boys under 10. All loved it to the death. I have not so far encountered one person who did not appreciate the beauty of TDK.

Titanic has the highest box office numbers. When adjusted for inflation, Gone With The Wind is and probably always will be number 1. Titanic is 6th place and The Dark Knight is 27th place.

2nd to Titanic, very close? What are you talking about? It hasn't yet broken the billion dollar mark, when Lord of the Rings: Return of the King and POTC: Dead Man's Chest already have. TDK would have to almost double it's box-office success to beat Titanic.

Hanz, do us a favor and shutup! The Dark Knight did not appeal to a larger audience than Titanic. Titanic was a cultural phenomonon, and is THE highest grossing film ever! Titanic also sold MANY more tickets than TDK. Titanic holds the record for the most Oscars, and the soundtrack is the best selling intsrumental score of all time! TDK is a SUPERHERO film, and was ONLY big in the USA! "Mama Mia!" did better overseas than TDK, for God's sake!
