I almost shit my pants every time I fly, when i hear the slightest change of sound in the engine a always assume it's failing and I'm going to die. Just being so high in the air makes me want to cry when I'm flying and watching all these airplane crash videos doesn't help much Lol! ;)

lmao its exactly what ido !!!! i fucking hate it when you set off and your 1000ft high then you get butterflys in your stoach then you hear like alot of noises! i use earplugs to be honest and when it does get to turbulence bring your feet up on to he rest and some how that makes it feel less shaky!

Yeah, thats understandable...but remember...when you're flying in a an aeroplane, you are secure up there, as long as the aircraft is going fast enough, you'll always be fine....even if the plane was to lose lift, all the pilot has to do is dip the nose to pick up speed and re-achieve lift...you are really quite safe.

Whoa that must of been pretty scary....yes they are rare. I experienced some severe turbulence myself last year, many passengers were looking around at each other to judge whether they were as panicked. It is unsettling to anyone when it becoems noticeably severe, but remember...the aircraft are designed to take incredible stress...check out the 787 wing load/stress test and you'll see what I mean.

This video clip is very well made and simple enough for many people to understand. I'm a FAA-certified airplane mechanic but I enjoyed it quite a bit.

I remember flying from Sacramento, Ca-Atlanta, Ga and we descended into a thunderstorm. It got so very dark in the plane and the turbulence was unbelievable. At one point the plane dipped and people started screaming. I was a little tipsy during it all and just sat there holding my breath. The pilot and attendants had warned us prior to us going through choppy air, but actually being in it was heart stopping. I hope thats the worst I ever experience.

Good vid! I was travelling back to London from NY today and we had it really bad as we passed Canada and I honestly thought we were going to crash as it was so violent. Can planes go down due to this?

its very unlikely that turbulence would bring down an aircraft (Never Happened B4), unless your unfortunate to drop through an airpocket, which could lead to a dive. Unless the overhead lockers were flung open, and passengers & crew were getting tossed up to the ceiling, there's no need to worry.
that actually ... ( 2 months ago by jokli007)
that actually happened today! som chinese aircompany flew from Tapei to Bali or something and the plane dropped like 10 000 feet due to very heavy turbulence. No one died or anything but some broke their legs and arms. That's scary...
For those ... ( 2 months ago by IntenseLowerChafing)
For those unfortunate ones who are uncomfortable with flying and/or turbulence, perhaps it would be best to bear in mind that your potential death in an aviation accident would be swift, as it would entail your body being shredded to thousands of bits no greater than an inch or so.
Hope this helps and best regards,
