"Conspiracy" was an HBO original movie about the Wannsee conference, in which several Nazi officials met and would eventually plan the Holocaust.
In this sequence Dr. Wilhelm Stuckart, co-author of the Nuremburg Laws, laments the legal problems with exterminating the Jews while constantly being heckled by Dr. Gerhard Klopfer.
Kenneth Brannagh plays Reinhard Heydrich, with Stanley Tucci as Colonel Adolf Eichmann, Colin Firth as Stuckart and Ian McNeice as Klopfer.

Can you think of another people who has been for more than 3,000 years so systematically bullied? By the Pharaos, the Romans, the Spanish, the Nazis. Do you know that the Magna Carta contains articles forbidding Jews to own land? And yet it is considered the ancestor of our Charters of Rights. Do you get the point?

I agree, although Germany has since then and more than once made amends for Nazi atrocities. Unlike Japan for the crimes committed against the Chinese, Turkey and the Armenian genocide, Spain for annihilating the Aztecs and the Incas. Throughout history, the Jews have been the people whose rights were consistently infringed upon - that is my point - but they are not the only ones.

Of course nobody is gonna accuse u of antisemitism, the point is that German responsibility is higher cuz they ordered the deportation of Jews when they conquered countries in Europe and concentration camps in Poland were ruled by German soldiers. They conceived the Final Solution and planned it.

i never denied germany primary role in this issue,what i dispute is the extent where germany is the sole accused here,if u r aware the actual killing in the lowest level(although commanded by german officers)that is the soldiers pulling the trigger in the vast majority were ukrainines poles estonians etc,countries who have never admitted the slightest remorse watsoever abt the holocaust,

When the Romans conquered Judea it should be noted that the jews were given their rights and freedoms to practice their own religion. Thereby, preserving their culture. This is something other civilizations were not given by the romans (Guals sold into slavery, or Dacians who were entirely exterminated). It was only after the Jews rebelled against roman authority for the third time, that their temple of David was destroyed in retaliation..

OK, then I see your point about the "accents" of the movie. I honestly never paid much attention to how accurate the actors had tried to sound German. But on the more important element of "performance" by actors, I thought that the acting was flawless. David Threlfall (Dr. Wilhelm Kritzinger) and Colin Firth (Dr. Wilhelm Stuckart) ESPECIALLY.

I respect your wanting to remain as "accurate as posssible" to the resemblance of actors to those that they portray, but COME ON. I couldn't even imaging how difficult it would be to find actors who looked as chilling as Heydrich and Eichmann did! I put more emphasis on how an actor "channels" the essence of person/subject than whether or nor they resemble someone. Branagh's acting shined for me.

This is a fairly accurate portrayal. Heydrich was exceptionally cruel, but his background was in espionage and spying. He did very little up front and most of his methods did in fact use veiled threats and innuendo.

i'm sorry guys but c'mon. not burdening the actors with accents allows them freedom to deliver one of the most spellblinding drama's in decades. firth is outstanding. braanagh magnificent and haunting. the casting is absolutely on the money. a magnificent piece of work.

Oh Gosh I cant believe the accents-thing is here also!!! They are british its ok they speak british. For me their characters are germans in all the way. For example russian playing spanish characters for me they are spanish no matter if they speak russian.
I prefer to hear actors speaking as the speak than faking those accents, as I have heard in other movies. For me it doesnt make any better or real if they fake accents, characters would be fake. I agree with dubhouseu :)

The casting and accents are a bit strange and historically inaccurate but these are trivialities compared to the powerful acting and plot content. This TV film should be essential viewing in everyone's political education.

Bloody good series because these actors did something very brave, by showing these men as men, rather than monsters. Alright they were total evil but they were human beings and this is what the series brings across and is so hard to swallow. Great acting, and what TV drama should all be about.
