How much of a difference would he make playing squats in front of 30 people who already share his views? If you want to change something through music you need to reach a lot of people, today that means sacrificing some of your morals on the altar of capitalism.

Hypocritical, yeah it does seem so. But RATM shares their opinions with everyone and does everything they can to get in the scene to try to wake people up. You can call it propaganda, but that's not what it is at all. He records for major record labels to have an even bigger effect on today's society. Good point though, at least you don't go along with an idea and don't think which is exactly the oppisite of their message in the first place!

They definately opened my eyes up to things i otherwise wouldn't have known about but most of their messages are being lost upon the mtv and radio crowd. How can you say you are against all this shit then embrace it to become a millionare? that's not making much of a change. As Sturgeon from Leftover Crack said RATM is pretty much cram as many political references into a single song as you can.
