First of all, Ho Chi Minh was one of the very few most far sight, most informed, most wise man of his time. His thinking and vision were superior and way way far ahead of most people at that time. Second, he fought to liberate Vietnam from COLONIALISM not for the cause of communism.Third, Vietnam is poor NOT because H.C.M liberated it from brutal colonialism, but because the racist bitter U.S and western imperialists gang up to sabotage and impose unjustified ecomonic sanctions against it.

The day 7/5/1954 is a happiest day of the vietnamese people after 80 years of cruelle French colonization, in that day, VietNamese Popular Army captured 9000 to 9500 men (1 French general (his name is DE CASTRIE), many French officers,...), valid, wounded, they were filmed, the film diffused widely in the world, said all over the world the weakness of France..."..le jour de gloire est arrivé..." :=(

That's a horrid thing to say. The Vietnamese men that were dying died to gain independence for their country, something they had been fighting for since the early 1900s. The French underestemated the power of the Viet Minh and lost the battle. They left humiliated, and when the Geneva Conference came round they just wanted out. The Viet Minh soldiers were brave, and actually fighting for something.. UNLIKE THE FRENCH! Don't be so racist when you don't know what you're talking about.

The USA accepted the idea to bomb the mountains in order te destroy the heavy artillery that the viet hided in the mountains all around Dien Bien Phu.
But the Britons refused (although it was not their bombers).

Indeed, Viets were fighting bravely, a baiyonet on the back.
Those paratroopers who decided to engage at worst moment of the battle knew , (since the begining !)that it was a desesperate fight. That is called honour and sens of comradry.
Some of the french colonial troops (not all)surrendered very quickly (the Thais) but metropolitan troops, leaded by the charismatic Bigeard, fought bravely their ennemies.

True, like Jews were annihilated by French collaborators with Germans Nazis when France was occupied by Germany nazi, i think Japanese sodiers are brave (the Samurai code of honour,Bushido), they were fighting bravely not like Frenchs soldiers, when Japs soldiers fight they never surrender to enemy like in may 7th 1954, VietNamese Popular Army captured 9000 to 9500 men (1 French general (his name is DE CASTRIE), many French officers,...).
