There are many ways to respond to the senseless killing at Virginia Tech. Some may wish to pray. Others may write and sing songs or poems. Some may light candles (See http://www.cafepress.com/bytelandart/709766 for VT candle memorial gifts and apparel)
Making video memorial tributes is another way to help express your sadness and sympathy. As a graphic artist and advocate of peace, love and nonviolent conflict resolution I have responded by making memorial designs and challenging everyone to debate the issue of guns, violence and to look for solutions to make our schools, universities, churches, malls and other public places more safe so that in the future mass murders may not happen.
Hence I ask everyone to please help raise awareness and promote nonviolent conflict resolution! We must teach our children how to love, the value of peace and how to solve their problems with nonviolence. Using guns to solve personal relationship problems or to express anger and frustration is NOT the answer!
The poem "15 Minutes of Infamy" was written in memorium to the 32 students who were killed at Virginia Tech on April 16, 2007 by a lone gunman.
***15 Minutes of Infamy***
Bang! Pow! Boom!
Bang! Pow! Boom! (CHORUS)
Shots rang out!
Someone else learned how to kill!
Yeah the news reports are flashing
Thirty two dead at Virginia Tech
How many more must die
Before we put an end to this insanity?
(CHORUS)
Sixteen dead in Austin, Texas
That was back in '66
How many was it at Columbine?
Twelve? I'm loosing count all the madness!
(CHORUS)
Why won't you listen people
We need love sweet love
This ain't no shooting gallery
This is the USA! Land of the free! Home of the brave!
(CHORUS)
Now everyone is packing, paranoid and afraid!
Will my school or mall be next?
Gangster rap and video war 'n' rape, the games our kids play
Are tomorrow's sirens and headlines flashing 15 minutes of infamy!
***END***
Some years ago I created a memorial web sites and started a No Guns In School Campaign to promote awareness, gun safety and spark debate. If you want to help raise awareness please visit at http://www.byteland.org/noguns/index.html
People need to learn how to love and how to solve their problems with nonviolence, both on a personal and international level. A first step is to teach our children how to love and to teach nonviolence as the way to resolve conflicts.
It is also the opinion of many people that CCW permits should be allowed by responsible adults such that in the event they are attacked by a mad gunman they may defend themselves and their loved ones. That is certainly a reasonable argument and one which may be considered as part of any security program.
I hope everyone who agrees with me will support my efforts. Lets promote No Guns in School and at such places as parks, malls and churches. By this I mean no guns in the hands of unsupervised children, irresponsible teenagers, gang members, drug abusers, juvenile delinquents or others who are not responsible adults and trained in the proper usage of firearms in defense of life; that guns and violence are NOT forms of conflict resolution. Let's teach responsible citizenship and firearm safety and ownership. Let's teach love, peace and nonviolent conflict resolution. If these values are taught from an early age it will make the world a better place!
Update: The death toll at Virginia Tech is 33, which includes the killer who was identified as Cho Seung-Hui, age 23, a native of South Korea. He used at least one 9 mm Glock pistol and also had a .22 caliber Walther pistol which were purchased from a gun shop in Roanoke, Virgina. He later sent a ranting and raving lunatic manifesto with photos and a video to NBC as evidence of his delusional, disturbed nature. It is my opinion that this Young Urban Terrorist is the ONLY one to blame for this horrible act which was done to get attention, to hurt and kill as many people as he could before taking his own life in a selfish act of perverted martyrdom in which he tied to rename himself Ismail Ax, perhaps a perverted allusion to Biblical stories and characters.

33 death = years Jesus was alive.
Date of the shooting = the popes birthday.
I noticed he described the way Jesus died in the Middle ages. Burned alive in the inquisitions.
The judgment was the black plague and the reason Europe and the church were shattered. I even know how. There is a message there. He's not in hell. You have it upside down. The lord is loosing faith in you and your inhumanity.
Cho RIP

BTW, you sound stoned.
