Michael Hedges ... ( 2 months ago by anibru90)
Michael Hedges never had a Facebook page before. So I decided to start my own. Just go ahead and type in "Michael Hedges" in the search box and you'll see the page: "Michael Hedges: The Guitarist from Another Planet". I want to see if Hedges's fanbase is still out there somewhere. Long live Hedges!

Unfort. I never saw him live. But I first heard Michael Hedges on the,"Breakfast in the Field" album back in '87". It made me look at the acoustic guitar in a brand new light, and it still does. After seeing this vid, I'm plotting against my electric guitar.Shhh.

I was fortunate enough to have seen him live several times in the early 90's. The last show I saw he was touring with Michael Manring! Amazing! They played Funky Avacado and many other duets. What a performer. The first time I saw him was in 1991 and I had never heard of him. I was literally speechless after seeing him play and I went out and bought Breakfast in the Field and learnded a couple of those songs on my guitar. I am now a professional drummer but I still play with alternate tunings !!

I had the pleasure of traveling with Michael when he toured with Shadowfax fro years , including a great tour of japan. He was one of the kindest , unassuming genius guitar players of our time. Every nite was an epiphany and never the same. His loss along with Chuck Greenberg & Stu Nevitt have saddened all that have had the privilidge of sharing their dreams and ideas. Luckily we have the music to touch our souls through life. johnnyb from ch-town

yea. I'm 15, and Michael Hedges is one of my biggest influences. Hedges is god. His style is so complex. He started the whole acoustic genre like this. He is truly one of the best guitarists that ever lived.

It's the riff from Iron Butterfly's In-a-Gadda-da-Vida, their smashing hit of 1968, the turning point of psychedelic rock that actually started heavy metal (although some hold that the real "start" of heavy metal was The Beatles' "Helter Skelter").
It is immensely known, and obviously Michael was joking on it, pretending his hand had gone and played it on its own accord.

Thanks a lot for the reply SchweizerKatze. Yes, I thought I recognized it as something, just couldn't put my finger on it. Now the joking around makes much more sense!
