Cont'd: The two ... ( 6 days ago by Skeptic121)
Cont'd: The two torques must balance each other for the system to be at rest. This system is in "stable equilibrium"; it will return to the same place following a slight push. Why is it stable? Because the handles slope downwards; if you push them up slightly, they will exert more torque. If you move them even further down, they will no longer exert enough torque to balance their weight. In either case, the system returns to its original equilibrium after rocking up and down a few times.

This is old, think about that really old toy you could buy at dollar stores, the little plastic bird and his beak on your finger tip. Not magic sorries.. :/

EVERYTHING can be explained by physics. It doesnt mean that if u cant explain it, then it must be magic. Pretty cool though :)
I wish magic existed:(

It's quite easily explainable. When placing the spoon and the fork this way with the "handle" ( not sure you call it handle ) going backward, the "gravity center" of your structure is exactly on the edge of the glass leading the whole vertical force to be applied at that point. (hard to explain physics not in your own language :)

ok wel il try to ... ( 2 days ago by XxnesiexX)
ok wel il try to explain it,the center of gravity(cg) od the fork /spoon is on the stick, its cg is resting on the glass and no matter what masses you add on either side it will not fall(until u shift the cg).the flame stops at the edge of the glass because fire needs heat and the glass takes it away, and because teh cg is untouched it remains prefectly balenced
hope you get my drift

for those who can't understand the explanations being given, if you know those weird bird toys that balance on their beak, this is the exact same principle at work.

Dude! You still have one of those WonderWoman glasses?!!! I remember we used ot have about 15 of them -- all assorted DC heroes (from Del Taco, I think). We ended up breaking them all over the years (odd, since they were so thick). It makes me smile just knowing one still exists. Take care of it for me, will you?
