I'm from Latvia and people here know full well that Russia sees countries as either vassals or enemies. They're threatening all of the former Soviet vassal states. We're not going back and NATO is what separates us from the faith of Georgia. Putin has very nasty ideas about the revival of the Soviet empire in that KGB-soaked brain of his. Because our economy depends a lot on Russia's political will. We have lots of gas, goods and oil transit going through as a credit to our port infrastructure and geographic location. Russia watches our every move and uses economic leavers as political weapons. They can stop it all! We are a nation of 2.27 million where there's one ethnic Russian for every two Latvians. Most of them were brought in by the Soviet government when Latvians were being sent to Siberian labor/death/extermination camps.

The only weapon against the HC is an argument of principle - that the war powers are cemented in the Congress, not the president and that the burden if declaring war is on top of the heads of an elected cohort that could be tossed out in the event of a disastrous decision.

I have never received a thumbs down before. Could I be wrong? Naa. I like Mr. Barr. His politics are not as firmly rooted in principle as Ron Paul's, but I may vote for Barr if I am on a bender that day.
