Tai Chi is suppose to be slow. It helps relax your mind and body and it's supposed to give you more energy. Trust me, I've tried it.

sure. it helps just about any martial arts. u get exptremely strong legs from this. but the strength doesnt stop there, it builds up through the body all the way to the fingertips! and it makes your movements very light, so u can move fast when u have to.

Hi guys
Do you think it would be possible for me to learn tai chi from books and videos without picking up bad habits? I know its always best to have a sifu but I go to weekly sanda classes so I know the basics

no, u cant if u havent done any kind of tai chi before. pls dont attempt it. u will just end up getting confused and bad habbits will be the name of the game, thats for sure.
besides u will be missing out on a lot of cool and fun things like pushands with a partner or an experienced teacher. i just love pushands!! it strengthens my form and makes my body understand why and when im off ballance.
just find a good teacher, u wont regret it!!

yea, thats because it arouses the meditative part of your mind. so even the slow movements are hard to follow when the mind stops working :)
but its a controled stoping of the mind. meditation in motion.
try it, u wont regret.

ahh... didnt know it was called sanda classes. i myself did some thai boxing once.
and i am now building up some strength in my legs after a years break from tai-chi so i can start again with my teacher next week, or the week after. looking very much forward to it.
