To be honest i cnt imagine dumbledore with a wife anyway. And i think him being gay suits him in a way. Brings more to the character than just a wise old man who is a great wizard like there is in most child fantasy books.

So children shouldn't know that there are people out there that are gay? Because I think part of the problem is that we're all raised to believe that there can only be a man and a woman in love, so when they become older the make fun of people who are gay and have formed the phrase "that's gay" to be negative.
But honestly, I think JK just said that mostly to try and bring the attention back to the book and try to get more people to buy it (not that she needed to).

Being straight is also a sexuality. Just because there's a gay character in the book doesn't mean there'll be anything sexual about it.

Actually if you read transcripts of the interview she says he was gay because he had feelings for Grindelwald because he was as powerful as him. He had gay feelings brought on by admiration, not that he actually wanted to kiss the guy or marry him. You have to look deeper. Why do any of us fall in love? Because we admire the person. So did Dumbledore.
