Part 5 in a series that takes a look at the history of one of the greatest gaming franchises of all time, chronicling the many recurring themes, characters and monsters that have appeared over the years. This entry focuses on the many appearances of the most widely known returning character in the franchise- Cid. Enjoy!
Notes regarding this video (please read before commenting!):
- For the entire series, I have simply gathered video footage from various sources on YouTube and compiled them together. I've done this only to entertain the many fans of Final Fantasy here on YouTube, so with that said, many thanks to all the folks who took the time to record the game footage.
- Again, for the whole series, I've focused solely on the main games. Remakes and updates of those games are featured, but I've opted to skip games like Tactics, FFX-2 and such. I had to draw the line somewhere to keep a reasonable length.
- Footage for FFII was tricky to find. From what I understand, Cid basically rents you an airship in this one and that's mostly all he does, so hopefully it's enough to show you that.
- Being a DS port, FFIII is always hard to record proper video. I used the best I could find for the first encounter with Cid.
- It's not shown, but Cid is a playable character in FFIV. It's only for a brief period, but at least he blows up real good.
- FFVII Cid is awesome. That is all.

He's a 45-50 year old alcoholic, chain smoking PILOT, with a foul mouth...who fight with a lance and summons dragons...

The IVDS version makes him sound and look like the 'Imma Chargin' mah Lazor, shoop da Woop guy!" Both Gba And Ds versions had their moments, which eachother lacked in awsomeness. I miss the tellah-Cid age bickering which was so prominant before.

I guess I've grown more attached to the ff7 cid because its the first cid I've came to know. FF7 was my first ff game in the series. All the other cids are different but they all have one thing in common they all have something to do with a airship either a captain or no. I love toad cid. I think he was the cutest.
