Come taste the band ... ( 1 month ago by baalChrist)
Come taste the band, while not so cut and dry rock, for whatever reason, it's my favourite album. I don't really know why, and I had to import it from Japan. It's not the best album technically.

Dude how can you say that Gillan is better than Coverdale?! you obviously dont know shit bout music! Coverdale is more of a blues singer, and his voice perfectly fits the songs he sings in DP or in the whitesnake or wherever, Gillan is super but you cant really say who is better, cause they sing in a different way different styles!

It's my opinion, and I certeinly do know about music, not just listening but playin' and singin'. If you think one is better than the other... well, it's your personal taste, nothign more, and what you say ain't necessarilly true, simply subjective opinion.

I love Come Taste the Band. Purple could do no wrong even with the lineup changes. Perhaps they'd seen better days on stage, but the studio album Come Taste the Band justified MKIV.

Gillan is a better singer for Deep Purple. Coverdale to me never belonged in Purple.

I totally agree, and he still got it. I heard him this summer. He was even better than in the 70's. Glenn Hughes - The voice of rock.

Considering Machine ... ( 2 weeks ago by deeppurple4ever)
Considering Machine Head was recorded in the hallway of an abandoned hotel, I don't think much editing was done on that, and it shows when you listen to Made In Japan. All the versions are as good if not better than the album cuts. It's when Bolin came into the band that Hughes had a drug partner and they'd do cocaine all the time(hughes had brushes with death up until he stopped in 1991) but Bolin got into Heroine, which is much more deadly. Tragedy.

Agree!Coverdale has lost his voice on the way somewhere.Hughes, I met this summer in London. His show was simply...fantastic!It's impossible to imagine,he is about 60 now.Quite the same as it goes to Burke Shelley and Budgie.
Thanks for posting this....

That I understand but Bolin was such a bad Heroine user It effected the way he played. Plus his sound just wasn't right for PURPLE

of course nonsense, ... ( 1 day ago by L485)
of course nonsense, dockaiser -
MK II had it`s burnout after Made In Japan
and was refreshed with Coverdale/Hughes
an DP came back with Burn.
Though Stormbringer wasn`t liked that much it`s a good album, too.
Then came MK IV -new good ideas wich
should lead in a new direction, but
in the end Bolin wasn`t the right guitarist to fill the Blackmore-shoes.

Listen to this Tokyo-concert:
this desaster would had collapsed
if Ian Paice weren`t in top-form and gave
150% to get all in shape.
