Joe stump is awesome. played with him at Ralph's in Worcester. He's the man! he just wears his influences on his sleeve. I like Joe Stump a lot better than Yngwie...simply because he is not a pretentious, arrogant, fat ass hole that still try's to squeeze into the same leather pants that he's had for 20 years...you can actually have a conversation with this guy

rama6maiden how can he be a knock of when to be that adept and good at guitar he would have needed to play just as long or even longer as yngwie, similar style not the same thing i mean the great kat had been blying bethoven and shit since she was a little girl and became a neo classic shred metal god in 1984 the same time, and randy rhoads had been doing the same style long before yngwie in 1979 but i digress, seriously that would make every metal band a knock off of zepplin from your logic...

its not only the music that make stump a knock off of yngwie, but its the technique. sure randy was incorporating classical music into rock but he really had no pioneering technique that had an impact on a lifetime of guitar players, as yngwie malmsteen did. the speed, the sweeping, the effortless efficient picking. this is clearly a knock off of yngwie

well your right in a sense, but i was just trying to say he may be similar to yngwie but to be that good it would require alot of effort and ability. what i hear is similar traits to yngwie playing but stump incorportaes more of the shred metal aspects to playing. its just frustrating when people just label artists with just as much chops as the first guy wannabes. and i wasnt comparing randy and the great kat as a whole i was just saying yngwie wasnt originally the soul creator to neo classic

exactly, as i was trying to say early to rama6maiden that it isnt clear who arrived first and that yngwie shouldnt be the only man revered for the genre. but yeah i agree with what you were saying on how yngwie has had more of the credit and fame of neo classic.
and by the way i like to comment on guitarist videos, and being challenged by a music intellectual as yourself. you make some very good points. if i may be so bold as to ask you who your favorite guitarist is?

well i used to lean more towards john 5, but then i realized how conceited he was. i really like al di meola, alvin lee, and ulrich jon roth. but my all time favorite would have to be dimebag darrell.
