You are *quite* right about the description of this, Nintega! What makes this game so fun to play on the original Japan version of this is the many variations of the special kinds of weaponry you get in the gold-marked icons, and they are SUPER powerful and are great at knocking the bosses out of the game!!! :D Damn, this game (Japan version) and Thunder Cross II are such excellent candidates for a special Konami shmup compilation release on PS2 or XBox 360, you know? ^-^ !

Another great shmup from Konami, though it feels a lot like Gradius with the options and all, it's unique in it's presentation. And I agree on the Japanese version being the best, when I fire this bad boy up on MAME I always play the Japanese version.

The boomerang was definitely the best weapon, although, the others were better at certain specified times. I remember being able to finish this game over and over and over again on one credit (it used-to start from scratch if you finish the game all the way to the end.) The best I did was 3.5 times on one 20c coin.
