The Mystery of Love - Animal Love

Uploaded by: bluehwyflaneur
Video Description:
Friendship and connection in the primate world is quite similar to human behavior, as Dr. Frans de Waal shows. Chimpanzees and bonobos show feelings of empathy, compassion, friendship and even altruistic behavior, but only for their own clan members. They don't care, and might even kill, outsiders vying for resources. Sound familiar?
"In the animal kingdom, we often get a sense of what, in full development, makes us fully human." — Rev. Dr. James A. Forbes, Jr., senior minister of the Riverside Church in New York

There is a lot we can learn not only from animals but from ourselves, would we talk the time and live with open minds. But it's important to remember that similar and the same are two very different things.

We are not just ... ( 1 year ago by JohnDeBunkTest)
We are not just like apes, people ARE apes.
All group living species have morals. The "in group" vs "out group" behaviour differences are obvious. What is becoming realized is that all of nature needs to be a part of our 'in-group' because we need all for our own survival and enrichment. We are kin not only to apes, but also to the trees who provide us the oxygen we breathe.

Who the hell claims we come from hydrogen gas? What an odd thing to say.
Yes you are a human ... ( 8 months ago by aaronweingott)
Yes you are a human, but you are also an African ape. A chimpanzee is a chimpanzee, obviously, but it is also an African Ape. A domestic housecat is a domestic housecat, but it is also a feline. Dig?
Well, it's about ... ( 5 months ago by Vona1)
Well, it's about survival of the species. We kill and do it too much. We all act in the same manner - we kill those that aren't part of our circle. We share 97% of the same genetic material so why would we think we as humans would do the basic things any differently. I liked this video-the responses below just go to show how arrogant humans can be when they think they can put some distinction between us and the other primates where it concerns 'love'. We're not special - we're part of it all.

So,man (sorry I had to), what makes you as a 'man' different from the rest?
I gess scince your a Christian that you'd reffer to the 'man was made in God's image' But image is a metaphor, God has no species,no form, so no image, only a perception.
So how do you know that other animals wern't made in God's image?
