Idua, a lot of that has to do with the lifestyle the working class are basically forced into. We don't get breaks and vacations or have as many healthier options as many european countries. You cant sit down in between work for decent meals, many have to settle for "fast food" Americans in general work longer, harder, have less time with family, and appearance becomes less of a priority.Even for those who are more concerned about their looks,end up having to cut corners on self apperance/health

I can relate though: I lived in a city once when I was single where many of the guys were jerks by association AND ugly. ugh. Iuda, you have to consider the bigger picture behind american obesity. there are many people who eat "healthy" who are still not as trim as other people in other countries. its not as simple as being "lazy" or just needing to "work out more/eat less." it's a multitude of factors that add up,and limited lifestyles options the working class has. Many americans don't even have decent health care or really anything that adds up to healthy preventative healthcare in general.

Theres many urban areas that do not have access to supermarkets with healthier foods many have to settle for bodegas, mini-marts etc. Theres even less options with extra curricular activities that are physical and athletic amoungst the poor-lower working class as well, who are on average the heaviest americans. To someone who has those options, the solutions seem simple and like common sense, and reasoable to accomplish, but in reality that's not the case.
