Last night I saw the Damned at the House of Blues in Anaheim. Three songs into their set, lead singer Dave Vanian said "We didn't invent punk rock, neither did the Sex Pistols" and then introduced surprise guest Sky Saxon. Dave and Capt. Sensible shared backing vocals on the Captain's mike giving the spotlight to Sky for an energetic rendition of Pushin' Too Hard. After Sky left the stage, Vanian said "He's the one to blame. Without Sky Saxon there would be no Damned." Ture words of wisdom.

Jesus, are they even playing? Their guitars aren't amped and there are no mics and the lead singer looks super unenthusiastic. I love it, but still. 60s tv, bloody hell.

no, they are lip synching. something that a heck of a lot of performers today do "LIVE". Case in point; Ashlee Simpson, Madonna, Britney Spears. all lip synching their way to millions of dollars. The Seeds look unenthusiastic because it wasn't cool to do that then like it is today. But TV forced them to.

I don't give a shit if their lip synching or not. The Seeds are totally badass. The shame of it all is that growing up, the Stones the Beatles the fucking Monkees got all the attention. Garage rock was fucking underground. It's taking 40 F'n years thanks to little stevens underground garage radio show to get these badass mothers on the map. I'm out.

Absolutely. I once ... ( 4 weeks ago by nibs2lou)
Absolutely. I once met Sky Saxon's ex-girlfriend. She said Sky spoke at all times exactly like he sang - a whiny sort of sneer. He worshipped his dog because it was god spelt backwards. How can you not adore someone like that? The word for this song is DEFIANT. They never wrote anything as good again - but why would they fucking need to? These 60s Yank garage outfits were REAL punk: the 70s Brits were useless. Jan Savage became an LA cop but Sky is still out there, still doing it. Yay!

damn it , i wish i'd been there. but i did see the real Seeds at the hullabaloo. and they did not lip sync, and they rocked for the whole hour. the music machine opened with black is black...then at the end they said, and next week from england will be jimi hendrix experience....and we all asked who that was, nobody knew, so we went to the beach that night and got drunk. i did see him 3x's after though....but the Seeds?, yeah, they punked out, like a few other bands tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
