Most radical, hippy professors/teachers are socialist and/or anarchist who also lean towards Marxism.
My question to you is, why would you (someone who enjoys freedoms and opportunities that millions of other people do not) embrace a ideology that not only does not work, but, is one that you have never experienced?

@ Gufberg - As I see it Russia is going through a process atm. The old people(70+) are pretty much left to them self working on the streets, all their investments were in the communist party. But Russia is like the Union very corrupt. You cant drive you car down the street without getting stopped by 3 police officers who wants a bribe(which is normal in Russia). The young people of Russia really wants to be like the western world and most of them dosnt want to get "controlled" as they get atm.

aha ok. :) well, I'm guessing that would depend on if they're from the european part of russia or the asian part? The russians I know say they're european, but they all moved to sweden when they were little or lived in the european part of russia.. so i wouldn't know haha.

Actually, my government teacher does not bring politics into class, although I believe he is fairly right-wing. Yes, I have not experinced socialism, democratic or otherwise.
The aspect that gets me is that socialism provides for the middle and lower classes, something that capitalism does not.

The evils of socialism are trying to work its way into the U.S. government. As with Obama. Like I said before, socialism, as opposed to capitalism, is all about people benefiting off of other people's hard work. If you like that form of government, then go where socialism is enacted. Socialism is attractive to subpar people. Who feel jealousy for those who strive to improve their way of living through honest hard work. I highly doubt your teacher is right wing in the least bit.

i hope you guys are smart enough the realize that the soviet union and present day russia alike has never experienced socialism or communism. it was a government which practiced state capitalism so this video has nothing to do with socialism, communism, or marxism in any way shape or form. good song though.

Capitalism is so much more so, as it involves highly-paid CEOs exploiting the labor of it's workers. Those rich bastards are the ones who benefit from the work of others. Socialism is not a form of government, it is an economic theory. And yes, I wouldn't mind moving to a DEMOCRATIC socialist nation, but none exist, so I am stuck. And I doubt you have met my teacher.

Then you should move to Switzerland or northern Europe. But the truth is, you won't see a line of people trying to get in there. Your an ingrate. Young people like you don't appreciate what you have in this country, because you never experienced the sacrifices and struggles of the people before you. What we have is not a democracy, but an oligarchy. The people have no voice in the actions of the government, rich politicians do. Capitalism is not evil, it just doesn't truely represent the people. Socialism isn't evil either, but it wants to give something to the working citizen.

Actually, Socialism wants to give MY money to the "working" citizen. As if the working citizen isn't already getting money for their work. Why should I give my hard earned money to someone who may be working a lot less than me?! What right do they have to my hard earned money?! NONE!! IF you don't work, you don't eat. And there is my problem with capitalism: it is the closest thing to economic anarchy. Competition means that companies will do whatever it takes to get a step up on it's competitors, no matter the cost payed by the workers. You say that your house is what you make it. Usually, an executive's house is built by laborers, the people that truly make a corporation run. And they barely make ends meet. Why should they give THEIR hard work to an executive.

Some people think (for they are not knowledgable) that in Soviet Union there were ones who worked and ones who could choose not to, but they would still be paid (presumably from wages of those who did work). This is not true. Yes, the system was: from everyone - according to their abilities, to everyone - according to their needs. Yet, whoever was capable (physically & mentally) of work, had to work. In fact, it was a civic offense not to work while one could ("Tuneyadstvo").
