Actually Harry Nilsson is not the original singer. The original was by Badfinger (the song was written by Pete Ham and Tom Evans of Badfinger). Harry Nilsson covered it a year later, although his version can be said to be the definitive version (and certainly not the hysterical yowling of Mariah Carey's).
