Friedman defintely had that exotic/Japanese phrasing down. Where Jason Becker reminds me of Vinnie Moore. Not in style but in the fact that they both do not seem to have any limitations and they can play anything that comes to mind. One thing is for sure is that I would have loved to have been there! Refreshing to hear them play with a clean sound! Most shredders are terrified of a clean sound. These guys seem to thrive on it.

Friedman actually taught Becker a LOT of theory.
Overall they were both amazing. They could both keep up with each other and they played together in perfect harmony. Who gives a shit about who was "better"?
They were exactly even.

I think Friedman just taught Becker how to improvise properly. I'm pretty sure Becker knew quite a lot of theory from playing classical guitar from such a young age.

Idk, I was reading somewhere, Friedman was saying he was impressed by how easy and natural the shit he was teaching Becker came. He was saying he was teaching him complex stuff, he'd go to bed, wake up the next day and Becker would be playing it perfectly.
