Video Description:
The final game of the 1993 preliminary round playoff series between the Washington Capitals and New York Islanders. Pierre Turgeon steals the puck from Dale Hunter and scores. Incensed, Hunter follows Turgeon as he celebrates his goal, and runs him into the boards from behind. Turgeon ends up with a separated shoulder and will miss the next playoff series. Hunter is suspended 21 games.

There are probably only a handful of people that deserve it more. Clint Malarchuk gets his throat sliced and accidentaly shoots himself, while nothing happens to Hunter. So much for justice.

Yea I remember this. MTL won over the NYI and won the Stanley cup but with Turgeon at this time, I thing the NYI was better. It was a cheap shot and Hogue and Pilon did his works.

21 games wasn't enough. That should have been an arrest, prosecution, and prison time for assault. Deportation would likely also be in order.

When I was 8 I was hit by a car and suffered multiple scars to the face. 20 surgeries later, I waited in line for 4 hours to get Pierre Turgeon's autograph. He sat me up on his lap for a photo and told me that girls dig scars and that I'm a class act kid. I'll never forget his kindness to someone in need, and i'll never stop being a fan.

At the very most, Hunter deserved a 5 game suspension fort being an asshole. The 21 game suspension was just ridiculous, and I bet the NHL was influenced by the media...the American media to be more specific. You're right, that was a clean hit, although it was given in a very inappropriate time.
