I turn on the TV and I'm amazed the type of characters they have explaining my religion to the masses. No wonder the world is confused about Islam.

The real story is that the pagans of Mecca had knelt for God/Allah while Muhammad was reading the Koran. Rumor travelled that Meccans had embraced Islam. Some Muslim migrant, who going to Ethiopia returned. So, Meccans spread this false story to justify their act.
True. But it was a way of manipulating pagans into accepting Christianity. It was certainly preferable to forcing them at sword point, no? That's how Islam treated many pagans. Not everyone were "people of the book". Pagans were not treated well by Muslims
I can see where are you coming from. Do you remember the status of Buddha in Afghanistan? Notice Islam came to Afghanistan many centuries ago. & Muslims through out the centuries never messed with them. It was just the crazy Taliban who decided to blow the status up.
This is why I've repeatedly said, Islam today has 2 enemies:
1- Extremist Muslims, who hijacked Islam before any airplane
2- Other extremists, haters & opportunist who continue the terrorists work by spreading fear, hate, & ignorance so they can make money or farther their agenda
But what about India? Muslims waged war against Hinduism for centuries there, and many Hindu temples were defaced and destroyed
The war between Muslims & India started as response to the Indian pirates who attacked & kidnapped Muslims. Most likely things wouldn't be that bad if it wasn't for Al-Hajaj, the tyrant of Iraq at that time.
So that was an excuse to conquer an empire in India? How about the centuries of Muslim pirates who preyed on European ships in the Mediterranean? They kidnapped and sold into slavery an estimated 1 million Europeans. Was that a justification for later European colonialism and imperialism in North Africa?
Islam conquered a huge empire by force of arms, no different than what Europe did
That is true of most Islamic history, of course. Some rulers and dynasties were quite benevolent and tolerant. But others were brutal fundamentalists or imperialists. The same can be said for the West as well. My point is that the Islamic world committed the same sins as Europe

It is a discouraging tale, for its evident moral is that civilization is a precious good, whose delicate complex order and freedom can at any moment be overthrown by barbarians invading from without and multiplying from within."
- Muslims are no demons
- Extremists are the problem to every one including the Muslims themselves
Instead of Hamza, Id mention the story of the Caliph Ali, whos revered by both Sunnis & Shiites. Ali was assassinated by the splitter who looks so devoted on the surface, but at the heart their so crazy & blood lusty.
Their story shows us the difference between real followers of Islam & evil extremists.
