yeah...
pink floyd is one of my favourite bands, and i love gilmour, too, and hes good, really good, but hes not really the best guitarist of all time... never heard "joe satriani", or "dave mustaine"?

Amen, that is the thing people overlook. he has so many amazing guitar parts and so much quality material out that he could be the best guitar player ever, my personal favorite at least! The other thing is that the speed that others play doesn't make them better, i'm sure he could play fast if he wanted. He plays so clean and with more emotion than anything else i've ever heard

A guitar player's skill isn't based on how fast they can hit notes. It's how they can put those notes together.
I don't want to dis the Floyd, but if Joe Satriani or Dave Mustaine were to have replaced David, Pink Floyd would have come and gone very fast.

Yes, you're right. In material like careful with that axe or even there on other live concerts he shows his skills. But that's not the point of his playing. It is awesome, but Gilmour is the best because his amazing feeling for guitar. He makes it cry
