Yeah they both were. Gram was one of the main reasons that Sweetheart of the rodeo sounds like it does.

Reminds me of some good baptist hymns. I don't know, I was raised on the Statler Brothers, Johnny, Merle, and Conway Twitty. I've never heard anything as haunting as this song. Oh, and Christine's Tune as well. I can't get either one of them outta my mind, and all I wanted to do was see Emmylou Harris, and stumbled across the FBB.

Think about it... These guys they we're good. Nobody knew how to market them. Nobobody wanted them in the rock scene, and country or 'The Nashville Scene' would have nothing to do with them. So they came and went. Unfortunately, years later, we find Parsons and Hillman were absolute friggin' genious in there songwriting and performance. What a shame.
Correction on ... ( 1 month ago by bigkw)
Correction on grammar follows; 'there' should have been 'their'. Spellcheck on isle three. Spellcheck on isle three, thank you.

I love this song. I'm not a huge fan of country music, but I love Johnny Cash, Willie, Waylon, Kris, etc and I love Gram Parsons, the Flying Burrito Bros., and the Byrds.

Yeah, I know.
I was referring to the more traditional stuff, as well as the crap that passes for country these days.
Cool, but that said ... ( 2 weeks ago by NixonMcvicar)
Cool, but that said, there's some very good roots/Americana stuff around though, the best for a generation , and less of that pernicious Nashville corporate shit goin on neither to spoil it. My only fear here in the UK is that there are becoming far too few venues for this music... it's political over here I guess... too many idiots would rather have their kids watch tv...

Used to have this LP. Great songs, harmonies w/Gram and Chris. They had a great sound AND check out EmmyLou Harris! She's still as hot in 2008.
