Season three had the best animation. When you go back and compare older episodes of this show to season three, you'll notice how crisp the details towards character design are. I think the episode with Iceman had perhaps the best illustration in the history of the entire show, and that was in season three.

Um, actually the Phoenix saga and The Dark Phoenix Saga were the best designs of all the seasons. Not a big surprise seeing how popular that storyline is, that Iceman ep did have fluid movements but the designs were off...

I agree, The Phoenix Saga and The Dark Phoenix Saga had great animation, but it's something about the Iceman episode that stands out to me more than the rest, especially the fight scene, I've never seen an X-Men episode that perfectly drawn and animated like that one. Hopefully someone will post that one again on YouTube.

Nah, it's cool, I agree with you, I guess I should say season three and four overall had the best animation. Out Of The Past in particular had very crisp artwork to the character design. The first two seasons the animation was pretty sub par, but I guess around season three since the popularity was at an all time high, gave the animation studio a bit more money and clout where they could spend more time on the animation. It definitely shows.
