It is amazing how nature works out perfectly without human intervention. And obviously animals are capable of thinking and processing and it is not pure instinct, the buffalos were wise enough to go for help, the crocodile was smart enough to attack the poor baby buffalo on the water... though at the end not strong enough... and the lions... smart enough the get the hell out of there...
