A prominent scientist who's followed the science of global warming from the beginning, Dyson explains why climate models have no scientific merit, why average global ground temperature is a great fiction, and what he believes the real dangers of increased CO2 in the atmosphere are. He suggests that the relatively simple solution of land use management could potentially give us the ability to control the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere at any level we'd like, and there's no need to stop burning coal and oil.

Right on. Solar activity has more relative effect on temperature change then anything the GW crowd has ever come up with. Sunspots continue to decline and in August '08 none were recorded. This hasn't happenned in 95 yrs. This tends to point more to cooling then warming. If the current trend continues and most credible scientist beleive it will, then GW will die out in about 10 yrs. or less.

Dyson talks as if the Drs. Keeling never existed. The Keeling Curve begins in 1958. Svante Arrnehius calculated the greenhouse effect of CO2 and others as far back as 1896 with incredible accuracy.
Computer climate models are still in their infancy but, they are designed by top tier scientists and are constantly improved.

For all of the accusations of skeptics that climatologists support AGW for grants, has anyone thought about Dyson's motivations? He may be a brilliant scientist, but that does not make him always right or have his own agenda.

His problems with computer models are entirely valid. A computer will just mindlessly assimilate whatever data is put in.
The "Hockey Stick" graph's "human factor" line clearly has some missing data: it doesn't exactly match the observed data. Makes me wonder what factors are not being taken into consideration. Biomass, as Dyson points out, seems to be one of them.

Dyson doesn't have a problem with the idea of 'global warming' in principle. He wants to see more data to support the trumpeted claims. That's where I stand. Frankly, I sort of hope Al Gore is right. We desperately need to move away from a hydrocarbonist economy. But I still think the verdict is out on global warming. In fact, the earth's temp has actually been steadily cooling over the last 10 years, in spite of massive global expansion of industry and SUV production during that period.

You obviously know nothing about climate change. CO2 is a greenhouse gas, that affects temperature, that is a fact. Go look at real facts at IPCC or Millenium Ecosystem Assessment. Lastly, this guy is talking about carbon sinks, which is old news in the scientific community. When was this recorded?
