I don't care what they think. With side-mounted controls the player would be a lot easier to control without taking it out of your pocket and a jog-dial is a more practical solution for navigating a linear playlist. I am disappointed in the ipod as a portable music player. It doesn't matter how many have been sold. That doesn't effect how it works and it doesn't work very well for me...

Just because somebody buys something doesn't mean they like it. They might be buying it simply because they think they will like it. I am one of the latter and have been disappointed with the purchase. I took the thing in the backyard and shot it. Why do you keep telling me how many people have it? That doesn't change my opinion of it. Zune has its controls on the front just like the Ipod. I am not interested in that.

I dont think the ipod is that great a music player, isn't horrible, but its not as great as sales would lead one to believe. the reason I keep buying them is because itunes is a GREAT piece of software and IMO blows all the software of its kind out of the water and I couldn't imagin using a differant program to lisen and store music. i know lots of my friends think the same thing. and it is the hot music player so ppl will be naturally inclined to buy it over the competition.

There were a couple MP3 players out before the Ipod and were just as good or better like the Creative Nomad Zen. I love CDs. Only LP records can beat the sound and they aren't made anymore (well you have to hunt for them or special order and shit...). Sometimes switching CDs is faster than going through 1000's of songs. Limited capacity forces you to only pick out songs/albums that you really like so carrying a couple CD wasn't that bad.
