coltrane is the god of everything tenor sax.
however, i personally don't really like his tone on soprano much at all.

IMHO, McCoy Tyner trumps them both. Watch as he mouths the lines he's playing during his solo. He translating the sounds in his head directly into his instrument. This is the true mark of a master. His lines in the tune are very clear, precise, and lyrical. It like he's speaking to you. Not to say that Trane and Dolphy aren't on the same level - they are - they're just not bringing it like McCoy. Just my opinion...

now ima saxophonist but the smoothness and style of the drummers back then awes....like nowadays there are good drummers but they all just bang and bang.......bang then they were subtle and smooth the hand formations and all and COltrane is a master of the trade....i love this vid
