Its the fucking Sierra Nevada mountains. Its not like they're not used to snow. The area receives some of the most intense snow storms in the USA, and the town of Truckee, in CA, is often the coldest location in the lower 48 US states. My point being not to dis CA.
But the real point is that, no, there is not that much snow ON THE GROUND. The point is that the snow is FALLING very quickly. Lrn 2 red teh descriptions.

what? Of course soem areas of CA are never going to see snow. But we do have mountains. They get snow all the time. Where do you think this was shot?

First of all, it's hardly snowing. Secondly, there isn't much on the ground. How exactly is that considered "heavy" snow? You have a light dusting.

thats funny... ... ( 1 day ago by 87168)
thats funny...because youre wrong about snowfall records. Buffalo, New York holds the record for the highest amount of snowfall within a 24 hr timeframe. No parts of cali can compare to an East Coast or Mid West winter. im sorry but you guys are known for beaches and surfing...not blizzards and hockey. Nice try but Epic Failure.
youre talking about ... ( 1 day ago by 87168)
youre talking about MOUNTAINS! we're city people. we're talking about Ohio, Michigan and New York. all three of these states get more snowfall. you guys are at a much higher elevation...so you probably get more snowfall year round but definitely not when its measured in quatities. thats like comparing a san diego summer to a boston summer. face it cali is not known for snow...you guys have lake tahoe and thats it. stick to your beaches

I'm from the East Coast. I also know about the nice "lake cutters" that bring RAIN, yeah even in January to even northern NY, Maine, ect. At about 7800' in the Sierra FORGET ABOUT RAIN in the winter. All snow baby, no ice, rain, ect. Any place where it is capable of having rain in winter is not to be taken seriously. Real winters happen at the arctic/antarctic circles and high mountains.
More west coast ... ( 6 hours ago by DigitalHaze65536)
More west coast snowfall pwnage:
You might be surprised to learn that the record for yearly snow accumulations resides right here in Washington.
The honor goes to our own Mt. Baker, which accumulated 1,140 inches of snow (that's 95 feet!) during the snowfall year of 1998-1999.
Of course, the old record belonged to Washington as well. Paradise Ranger Station on Mt. Rainier now falls to second place, having had 1,122 inches of snow during the 1971-1972 snowfall season.
