Like so many of The Smiths masterworks, this song is so poignant and haunting. The existential overtones are both ethereal and poetic. The most gripping passage to me is:
And in a darkened underpass I thought -
"Oh God, my chance has come at last" -
But then a strange fear gripped me and
I just couldn't ask...
There are some song lyrics that seem to touch a chord in each of us. I cannot fully articulate why those words resonate to my very core. Pure artistic genius.

la primera vez que escuche esta canción fue en un cover en español, igual de buena hecha por mikel erentxun, vocalista de duncan dhu, o no se si fue cuando estaba en duncan dhu todavía, de cualquier forma era una de las mejores cancienes que habia escuchado, ahora me doy cuenta de donde realmente vino esa grandiosidad, les recomiendo la versión de duncan dhu.

it's a beautiful climax to an album of spectacular power and emotion...not to be taken too seriously...just a point of huge pleasure.
i bought this album when it came out and couldn't stop playing it for five years...i was about 21 at the time, probably the right age.
