You are commenting a Pink Floyd cover saying that DT are the most original band you've heard. Something's wrong here :)
What about Pink Floyd? If you follow their career, you'll find out much more complete innovations in musical and audio aspects, experimentation with sound structure and FX, plus they came up with a pretty good percent of what people call "modern music". Especially the period before 1973.

Oh, by the way, DT really ARE good, but please don't confuse being good and filtering good stuff into your music with being innovative. Petrucci himself stated many times in interviews that DT is a filtering of King Crimson and other early progressive/acid bands, plus some American thrash and heavy metal. WHAT exactly you guys believe they CAME UP with? Tell me what you've heard in DT's discography that you can not hear anyplace else? Don't bother, I'll tell you - no such aspect.

ill tell you the difference bud. They are composers of music. Their music is more of an art form. There is like no other band that changes rhythms and patterns so frequently. DT is one of the most talented bands ever. They are like a modern day led zeppelin.
