Yeah, something was very wrong from the get go. I voted for neither but I find it plain and simply wrong that not all the votes were counted. How can either side say it would he harmful for all the votes to be counted? US Supreme court delays the recount then says theres not enough time to finish the recount when they are the ones who stopped it. I really can't believe this didn't anger more people.Even Bush supporters should have been angry about this.Everyones vote should be counted.

Well, even with all the Popular votes being counted or not counted, the Electoral College favored Bush with their votes (by less-than 2% or so) and that was all it took to win. It was easily assumed and understood that Florida's Electoral Votes were certainly going to Bush and not Gore. All the recount did was delay the inevitable. The Popular Votes that were lost would not have helped Gore to win. The contest is fixed if we have no Democratic control over the outcome.

I vote every year. I voted in 2000 but I voted independent. I had planed on doing it again this year but I decided to night I am voting Obama. I ask myself why is the republican party opposed to people making over 250,000 a year paying higher taxes than people under? Yes, that money will go to people who need it.Isn't that what we are suppose to do?I don't mind my tax money being used to help people who truly need it. Why would anyone?Lots of people are hurting right now and need help.

Not necessarily and that's my point. Our votes, as the general Public, only make up the Popular Vote. Only 538 of the select "elite" make up the Electoral Vote. The Electoral Vote normally concurs with the Popular Vote but is Not obligated to follow suit. They can vote for whomever they like, even contrary to Popular Votes. And this was what was reported on Election night, well before the issues with FL came up. In the very least, the Electors threw in for Bush before their final counts came in.

I cannot wait for it's debut on British TV next week! I've seen plenty of documentaries on this, its catagoric that Bush cheated his way to becoming the worsed, most deterministic leader since Hitler. I really hope this doesn't happen again...It's the only way McWar will get in!

I agree DarkTruth33,hard to understand why other people think differently to that,but thats what its all about,choice and variety.Personally i dont understand why the democrats aint winning by 90%.But saying that i dont think it really matters,all this campaigning is to grab our attention and keep it away from real issues.Theres always one goal for each country and no matter whose in charge,theyre get there.Surely a democracy would be better if the whole country voted on certain big topics.

Well, the U.S. really isn't a Democracy like many people think (it's a Constitutional Republic). We use this term a lot because it's an idealistic model for many. And it sounds like we have more control over our lives, freedoms and Futures this way. It's also just one word and somewhat easier to spell, at that. But the process and mechanisms of what we do have, is where a lot of people fell asleep in class, passed notes, doodled, or whatever. Some learned it later, many don't.

It's interesting to note that for 2008, the Electoral Vote deadline is DECEMBER 15th. LOL! Back in 2000, the deadline was on Election night, like I said: between 2300 hours, Nov. 7th & 0500 hours, Nov. 8th. Looks like they're not taking chances this time.
