the date was most likely in reference to the 1968 democratic convention street protests when the police rioted in chicago. there seems to be some old footage shot at night towards end.
then there is the "summer of love", 1968, san francisco where if one was there everything may might have been thought to have been so great.

mtv crap like nin? you do realize that all of nine inch nails' MTV hits were back when MTV was GOOD, and even if you never liked MTV, then you could at least LISTEN to their music instead of critisizing it because it is popular (god forbid a band be somewhat popular)

I do have to say, some kind of unspoken stipulation about being industrial and popular is a big no no. Which is something I do not fully grasp. I'm not a huge NIN fan, but hats off to Reznor for gaining popularity for doing what he wants, in oppose to just emulating what everyone currently likes. Most music on radio and MTV is carbon copy, banal, guitar driven bands . . . then there's NIN.

yeah, eMpTV crap like NIN - clearly one of the worst 5 bands of all time, right up there with Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Korn as those bands offer nothing to the world of music that hasn't been done before by far better bands... why don't YOU listen to good music such as Throbbing Gristle, Cabaret Voltaire (Crackdown), Einsturzende Neubauten (ZNS), Pig, Numb, SPK (pre Machine Age Voodoo), Revolting Cocks, Laibach, Coil etc etc I can send you some links if you like, until then crawl back into beddy-bye

I remember first putting this vinyl on the turntable in 1989. . . and during the first 3 seconds I thought, "Oh shit, Al Jourgensen has ruined them!" It turns out to be just mediocre I suppose. This LP in particular was weak relative to most other SP output.

This industrial metal classic is as much the songwriting property of Al Jourgensen's (Ministry, Pailhead, Lard, 1000 Homo DJs, Mentor to Reznor, Acid Horse, PTP, Lead into Gold, Pigface, Revolting Cocks) as it is Skinny Puppy's. Jourgensen co-wrote & produced Skinny Puppy's greatest album, "Rabies" (includes Tin Omen). SP has never done an album better than Rabies or as good. This fact compels me to believe that they still need some of Jourgensen's potent reinforcements. Snoogins...

Well, Jourgensen is cool and all. But Skinny Puppy flourished with Ogre, Cevin, D. Goettel, and Rave Ogilvie all the same. Shoot, I'd use Jourgensen too for guitar. But Puppy can make industrial tracks without Guitar. Too Dark Park kicked significant ass, as well did Mind:the perpetual intercourse.

I 100% agree with you on this (even though Skinny Puppy discredited Al Jourgensen's participation in bringing this album to fruition ... primarily due to Al introducing Nivek to heroin, which caused major problems for all parties concerned). Having this opinion will not gain you too many fellow compatriots with the same understanding as you do (hence the negative ratings you have) because it is anathema to Skinny Puppy "loyalists". Sad but true.
