Claire sighed as she turned away from the ticket booth. She could simply kill her mother. Because of the delay in leaving their home that morning, Claire had missed the last Jonas Brothers ticket by ONE PERSON IN LINE! She was seriously devastated. As tears welled up in her eyes, she ran around a corner, seeking a bit of solitude. She couldn't bear to face her friend Emma, who had guiltily bought the last available ticket. As Claire sat, sniffing mournfully, a deep voice suddenly came from behind her. "Do you need a tissue?" Claire jumped with fright, scrambled to her feet, and found herself staring into the beautiful brown eyes of Nick Jonas. She thought that she would die from shock. She took a deep breath to steady herself.
"A tissue would be great." She smiled as Nick pulled a travel pack of tissues out of his pocket, opened them and handed them to her.
"If you don't mind talking about it," Nick said, plopping down on the ground where Claire had reseated herself, "what were you crying about?" Claire smiled, wiping her eyes with a tissue.
"Of course I don't mind...I just missed the last ticket to your show tonight by one person. This one person just happens to be a really good friend, so that's pretty awkward, and the only reason I missed being here early was that my mom broke her toe and had to wait for the medicine to kick in before she could stand the pain enough to drive! I've just kind of had a bad morning. Nick's eyes had been widening with every example she gave, and he let out a low whistle.
"Well, if it's any comfort to you, if I had had a morning like that, I'd be crying too." He seemed to suddenly have an idea; his eyes brightened and he grinned. "Hey, I think I know a way to turn this day around!"
"Actually, you already have. Meeting you has made my day great! I just wish I hadn't been crying."
"Hey, think positive -- I'll always remember who you are! Oh, wait; did you say what your name was?" Claire gasped at her stupidity.
"Oh my god, I totally forgot. I'm Claire. Claire Lorrena Harris."
"Claire Lorrena..." Nick smiled, 'That's pretty. I like it. Well, Claire my dear, let me just make a quick phone call, and I will make this day fantastic, not just great, okay?" Claire nodded, and Nick jumped up, whisking his red Juke out of his pocket, twisting it open and dialing a number. "Hey, Wade? Nick here. I would like to add someone to our reserved front row seats, please. Her name is Claire Harris, and make it a plus two, will you? Thanks bud. Oh! And could I get one backstage pass and get Adam out here so he knows who to pull? Thanks. I'm in the back alley." He flipped his phone shut and sat back down. Claire's cheeks were flushed with excitement.
"Do you really mean it? Three seats in the front row???? And a backstage pass! Oh my god Nick, thank you so much!" Claire reached over and hugged Nick, and as he hugged her back, they both felt a tug on their hearts. It was as if their bodies had been made to meld together. Her head fit just under his chin, and his muscular arms circled her shoulders just as perfectly as hers circled his waist. They stayed like that several moments longer than necessary, and then Nick drew away. He took her hands in his and drew her up so that they were both standing. He reached out and brushed a lock of her dark blonde hair behind her ear. He was just leaning in closer when hurried footsteps caused them to jump apart.
"Hey Nick, you asked for me?" Adam, a burly, brown haired man in his early thirties, was walking up the alley toward them.
"Yeah, thanks for coming out here, man. I just wanted you to know who to pull. This is Claire, and she'll be the lucky lady tonight." Claire smiled at Adam and shook his hand.
"Lucky lady?" Claire asked, "What am I being pulled for?" Nick couldn't help smiling at the cute wrinkle that appeared between her eyebrows.
"You are just going to have to wait and find out, now, won't you?" He grinned mischievously, and Claire felt a pull on her heartstrings. She couldn't believe that this was happening to HER!
