I've only used computers as a reference for information. This just goes to show the validity of the saying, "Those who can't do, teach." How about a book drive or trying to improve schools in poor nations, beotch. |

| The laptops are going to be loaded with instruction materials so teachers can use them for teaching students. So basically, lots of books are already on them. Developing computer skills is educational in itself for some of these kids. These aren't going to starving kids in Sudan. It's for second world kids who, if they had access to the tech, could get the benefit of a first world education and economy. |

| A texas instruments graphing calculator (ti84) goes for $120 and is at this point a necessity for high school math. If you realy think MIT is creating this to exploit the super poor market and not to bring the greatest education tool ever to the underdeveloped countries your an idiot. If it has at least the functionality of a calculator, or the copacity to store 5 books, or inspires one mind to push the boundaries of what is possible for them; it will be more valuable than gold. |
