You totally just went on wikipedia to find that definition, but if you actually would read it, see that it offers the man no help.
Existentialism is about living your life with the choices you make, the consequences that stem from those choices, and being content (though in most works the character is indifferent) with the results. It is about living in the now, not clinging to the past or aspiring in the future. Doing what you like when you like to do it.

I always thought it was sort of to capture those feelings, if you were some dude just sitting at prom all alone or gazing out at the stars not dancing with anyone, you would probably be thinking some deep thoughts about things related to existentialism. And prom night would probably be the hardest night to manage alone so I just figured that was why.
