Arabic: Lesson 1, Part 1 (Alphabet)

Uploaded by: pbneurogirl
Video Description:
**** Part 3 is now up! ****
** Thanks for all the great responses and feedback! I appreciate all the messages but I couldn't possibly respond to them all, so here's a big Shukran (Thank you) to all! **
This is the first in a series of arabic language lessons, which will cover the written language and then speech. This lesson is a two parter and contains the basic isolated consonant forms. Stay tuned for the next installation, where you will learn how to write basic words and how the isolated consonants change shape depending on where they are in the word.
Learning Arabic is not as hard as you'd think if you have a good system. I've had to pick up bits and pieces here and there and it is my hope that by bringing them together and sharing them, others will be able to quickly learn how to master this beautiful language.

You did a great job ... ( 2 months ago by milty08204)
You did a great job but you mispronounced alot of the letters. And by the way modern standard arabic is not the most popular dialect. Its actually not used in any country. The only reason why beginners learn it is because the Qu'ran and newspapers are written this way. Just to help you out. You didnt know how to spell SAUD not SAWD. You shouldnt say no letters are vowels the wow, alif, and yaa are all vowels. Your jeem should be connected by the right tip. You are doing great for a beginner!

Pretty good job, however jeem, hah and kha must be a bit rounded at the top part and that is in typing. however , in writing, it could be writen like a reversed triangle and add the arc thing a the bottom corner.

That's what the arabic alphabet look like in typing.
ا ب ت ث ج ح خ د ذ ر ز س ش ص ض ط ظ ع غ ف ق ك ل م ن ه و ي . actully that's just the beginnig: there is also the ء which you can add at the top or bottom of alif ( أ ) abd it changes completly the pronouciation, to the ؤ and ئ . also there is آ and مّ (the little things on top of alid and mim).

Even more, the sawd and dad should not have a little bump right after the loop unless they are connect to another letter after them, so that the scoop will be replaced by the little bump.

Nice job. that was actually pretty accurate.
For a non-semite, your pronunciation was pretty spot-on. Although personally, I think there was a little bit closer pronounciation writing to some of the letters:
ح is more like "ha"
د "dal"
ذ "thal"
ر "ra"
The rest were almost perfect ^^

Almost all Muslims ... ( 2 weeks ago by EeekMeep)
Almost all Muslims learn basic Arabic so that they can read the Qur'an in its' original language.
If you were in a country that isn't located in South-West Asia but that say had Islam as its' official religion, in a round-about way you could say that it's an official language for them.
I think you're both kind of right.
