The true story of a time when I fell for the wrong kind of woman.
Lyrics
When I was a young man, not quite twenty-one, me and a colleague of mine, we were suffering from the same ailment. That being, not quite twenty-one.
Now the car I have today, well, it's definitely reached it's twilight years. But back then, it was brand new. It still had that brand new car smell.
So the two of us hopped in to that car and drove north till we got out of the country, into Canada, and made our way to Montreal where the problem of being not quite twenty-one, well, that wasn't much of a problem at all.
Well, being a couple of discriminating gentlemen we wanted to indulge ourselves in everything that Montreal had to offer the discriminating young gentleman who was not quite twenty one.
So we found ourselves on the famous Saint Catherine Street, which itself has several establishments where a discriminating young gentleman who is not quite twenty-one could find himself some entertainment and a cold drink to quench his thirst.
Now I had heard stories of such places, men defeated by a pair pretty eyes, left to walk home with an empty wallet and a broken heart. But being the well-educated, savvy, metropolitan young man that I was sure that nothing of the sort would ever happen to me. So we walked in.
I was only looking for some fun.
I was lonely couldn't hurt no one
To see some ladies dancing.
So I walked in through the door,
My feet firmly planted on that checkered carpet floor
And I sat down, drank my first round
And I waited for some more. Some more.
But you.
But you.
But you.
But you.
By the time they called your name
I was the captain of the ever lovin' game.
Beer for beer, girl for girl, dollar for dollar
they were all the same. All the same.
Then you walked on that stage.
I could not believe my eyes.
How could a girl your age
End up here. I couldn't surmise,
But I was hypnotized by your sliding thighs.
Then you looked me in the eyes.
Your smile made me want to cry.
I thought that maybe I would die,
But baby all that I could try was to say.
S'il vous plait
Danse pour moi
S'il vous plait
Danse pour moi
Oh mademoiselle, won't you take me away.
If you want money, well you know that that's okay.
Empty my pockets. Take all that I can pay.
Just tell me that you'll stay
And baby let me hear you say
That you like me
Tell me that you like me
Do you really like me
I think think you do
Oh no, my money, it's all gone,
And I know that you can't stay for very long.
But if you like me won't you stay for one more song?
Oh baby don't I turn you on?
Oh honey please don't do me wrong.
S'il vous plait
Danse pour moi
S'il vous plait
Danse pour moi
Baby let me take you away
Let me take you away
I got a little place where we could stay
Let me take you away from here
But you got to understand
That I was lonely.
