It's probably more a question of how many hours of practice. When i started practicing several hours per day I made much faster progress. I honestly don't remember how long it took because I started at age 5. I knew how to roll and play paradiddles before I tried fast paradiddles and from there it took only a few weeks but I was playing for years before I got there.

PB,
Since your bored anyway, please share your erudition with us and make some videos showing everyone how to play the way you want. Feel free to cover the same material, this will both obviate the need for these videos and allow the students to "go somewhere".
On the other hand I assume the people watching aren't idiots (present company excluded) and that they watch a variety of teachers and learn from all of them.

How about teaching ... ( 1 month ago by PositivelyBored)
How about teaching a 5 stroke roll starting with one stroke ending with two? LRRLL this is much more common sense than RRLLR and teaches better habits. Who starts a double stroke roll with two instead of one? beginners.
Then you say electronic kits you "cant see the hi-hit because its an electronic kit"...well, maybe on your beginner kit, but most good ones utilize a real hi-hat.

i watched his videos, and I learned how to play a few drum beats, and when i play them they sound good. I benefited, so his videos are a success. The argument stops there as far as i am concerned.

Wow dude, that was quite a bit of information. One thing I would say is that I've found that sometimes matched style grip is not that great when you're playing Hi-Hat and Snare because you can easily hit the top of your left hand, check it out you'll see what I mean. I do keep my Hi-Hat adjusted fairly low, you know economy of motion and all.
Those are electric drums, right? Did you actually pick that snare sound? Because it's not good man.
This is very cool though, keep up the good work!

I'm going to buy a set with 1 hi-hat, snare, 1 simple, 1 bass drum and 2 toms. You think that is enough for a beginner like me?
