This video proves that alot of young people these days don't know SHIT about basic electronics. This wouldn't be a big deal, in the 1800's. Oh, and some tips for the confused ones who want to know: Speakers connect to circuits. All circuits have a hot(positive) and a ground(negative). All commonly used speakers have magnets. Current pennies are not measurably magnetic. Only the 1943 steel penny was magnetic.

Did you strip the wires back? If you leave the wires coloured as they are then there is no connection.
You MUST use a screwdriver to take the covering off of all of the wires you want to use. If you have one, use a multimeter and set it to resistance and the diode test function. Some will beep, others will show a reading on the screen. If it says 1, then there is no connection.
