It was a short range fighter, and it's big motor was very thirsty. The motor was about 41 litres, if I remember, and it could drink.
In my hometown of Reading, PA each year we hold one of the largest WWII events in the U.S
I had the plesure of talking with a P-51 Ace and a Me-109 Ace who fought each other over France. Unfortunetly I forgot their names :(.
But The Mustang Ace shot him down and the German bailed out. Both had wondered what happened to the other. About 15 years ago they finaly met up with each other and here they were sitting and laughing, the best of friends.
