The whole Republican party is ridiculous, in fact.
As for "The rest of the nation," dude, they are -local charities.- The rest of the nation takes care of themselves, just like every other part of the nation. That's the point, the local charities can better help people than a nationalized system, because they know the people and the area.
And because larger towns and cities tend to be more liberal than smaller ones... You get the picture. This doesn't mean, however, that the government should take over.
darkicyrose..... it is the responsibility of your Gov. to spend your tax dollars on something other than losing wars.
BTW, I have my own job, I'm not talking about welfare, dumbass. There's a big difference between getting ss for disability, and welfare. You know nothing about me, and honestly, that's why people have turned away from the conservatives, because you act so much higher on the moral scale and think you know EVERYONE's story.
Oh I know, they were busy buying two more Cadillacs for the people running the show. Where's your statistics, prove it, I'm sure they ask your political stance when you donate.
BTW, there are more people from the US that go to Canada to get free health insurance thanks to family in there, than people from Canada that go to the US to get it faster. I would rather have a cold for 3 days than dying of neumonia because I couldn't afford the treatment.
XD You say I know nothing about you, but a) You know nothing about me, and b) Liberals are the ones who act all high and mighty. What do you think welfare is? "Oh, we have to force those horrible Republicans to give to charity through taxes!" And BTW, I happen to support a limited welfare (Which is what it is) for people who physically can't get a job.
What about conservatives who bad mouth EVERY single dissident and say they have no morals? That's NOT acting high and mighty? We all pay taxes, and we expect the same benefits as the current retired and disabled when we get to that point.
A friend of mine recently went on maternity leave and the job screwed up the time off papers. They had to go to court to pay the landlord, who was upset about that. The charities didn't want to help, or wanted interest. They got it settled with a good judge, but still.
I don't. I don't expect those benefits, and I certainly hope I never have to use them, because I will take care of my own retirement rather than having the government take care of it for me. In the case of social security, it's stealing from the young, and I refuse to be a part of that.

Yeah, we did vote blue because we're sick of the Republicans' bullshit. They did nothing but talk about gay marriage and how Bin Laden is still out there, when they AREN'T looking.
My town is red, historically and still is. Doesn't mean we have to be happy with the way the Republicans ran things, and still haven't learned anything.
It's like hitting someone back after they hit you. I'm just trying to show my side of the aisle and why I, like others, are pissed that little guy gets shit on while the people on top can do ANYTHING and be rewarded.
